Subject: When my Puppy Raiser is away, where will
I stay?
When planning a vacation,
you need to make a decision about your puppy. Choose one of the three options
below. The two important things to remember are: plan early and notify your
Area Coordinator. GEB needs to know where your puppy will be when you are away.
1. Take your puppy with you
This
can be a fun experience for your puppy but discuss your plans with the Area
Coordinator so all potential problems and issues can be resolved.
2. Find a Puppy
Sitter
There
are a few Puppy Sitters who have offered to take care of puppies for
vacationing Puppy Raisers. Ask early, as their calendars fill quickly.
3. Board your puppy in a Kennel
For
puppies six months and older, consider a stay at one of the approved kennels listed below. A kennel stay can be
an excellent experience for your puppy.
§
Make sure you have an
up-to-date vaccination record.
§
Make reservations at
the kennel early.
§
Introduce your puppy to
the kennel gradually by visiting the facility
at
least three times. (Ask your Area Coordinator for Kennel Protocol)
Taking
a little extra time ensures that your puppy will be comfortable in the new environment.
